    Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is a system of Yoga introduced by 15th century Indian sage Yogi Swatmarama and is great for beginners and experienced yoga practitioners alike. Hatha yoga practices give you a taste of the state of yoga and practicing Hatha yoga regularly can have positive effects on your mental, physical and spiritual health.

Seen as a foundation stage to cleanse and purify the body and prepare it for higher meditation Hatha yoga takes you through a number of yoga postures (asanas) whilst learning about yoga breathing and how this can enable yoga relaxation.

The practice of Hatha Yoga asanas (postures) has perhaps even more relevance in our modern turbulent world as an excellent way to manage both physical and mental stress. The benefits of Hatha Yoga practice are far reaching and include: improved cardiovascular functioning, toned physique, stronger muscles and bones and increased flexibility. The benefit of pranayama (breathing) and deep yoga relaxation techniques can improve mental capacity as well as reduce hypertension and blood pressure.

Anyone can practise Hatha Yoga, the only prerequisite is being able to breathe. Even difficult looking postures and techniques have very simple variations; you do not have to be flexible or strong, just have an open mind. Learn more about the state of yoga at one of Neo's yoga retreats or with the yoga downloads.
