Yoga, learning about chocolate and opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause, a dedicated program for individuals as well as families (suitable for children ages 5 to 15) to relax and recharge as part of a unique and forward-thinking yoga retreat with a conscience in the Caribbean! More than a yoga holiday, it offers you a unique opportunity to truly embrace the element of yoga service to others by volunteering your time to a variety of charitable activities.

What is Voluntourism?

Voluntourism is travel that includes volunteering for a charitable cause. It is a concept that accepts and embraces a belief in social responsibility. It is growing in popularity with individuals who have a social, ecological conscience and involves volunteering, personal growth and connecting to the planet in ways that help to preserve it.

By participating in this retreat, you wlll be directly supporting Queen Elizabeth Home for Children. Volunteer activities are organized by REACH Grenada, a charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of vulnerable children on the island through education as well as yoga, meditation and psycho-social counseling services.

Making a Difference - Intergenerational Philanthropy

This intergenerational experience allows parents to expose their children to the needs of the global and specifically Grenadian, underprivileged community. This four night trip consists of three morning work programs at the Queen Elizabeth Home for Children. Volunteers contribute their time and energy to enhancing and preserving the physical structure of the home through painting, reparation and gardening projects. Children's games are organized so that the visiting children have opportunity to interact in a fun and uninhibited way with the Queen Elizabeth Children. When the local children are not in school, communal lunches take place at the Home.

Yoga Retreat Accommodation

Volunteers stay at the lovely and family friendly Grooms Beach Resort. There are several accommodation options to chose from including standard rooms, deluxe studio rooms and two bedroom villas. The resort boasts an inviting swimming pool alongside the open-air restaurant and is just a three minute walk to the beach.

Your Travel Information

Grenada's Maurice Bishop International Airport is served by the following airlines: for flights from the United States try American Airlines via Miami or San Juan or Jet Blue to Barbados and then a connecting flight to Grenada. For flights from the United Kingdom British Airways or Virgin Atlantic fly direct. 

Arrival time: The programs start in the evening of arrival day. When making your flight reservations, please arrange for your arrival time into Grenada's Maurice Bishop International Airport no later than 8:00 pm. That will ensure you can arrive at Grooms Beach Resort, a five minute drive from the airport, with time to check in before a light meal and group orientation.
